The Cuban Heritage Society of San Antonio, Texas, commemorated May 20th—the date marking the anniversary of Cuba’s independence from Spain in 1902. The event took place on Sunday, May 24th, allowing for greater attendance.

We had the honor of hosting Elieser, known as “El Bayardo,” as our guest speaker. He has emerged as one of the leading Cuban influencers thanks to his videos on Cuban history and culture, which have been widely shared across social media platforms. What makes this truly extraordinary is that he resides right here in San Antonio.

Elieser delivered a powerful speech, recounting the true history of this pivotal event—a history that many Cubans raised under the communist regime had never heard before.

The event’s Master of Ceremonies was Yanet Méndez, who in recent years has established herself as a successful real estate agent and stands as a true success story within the Cuban community.

The event also featured the participation of five Cuban visual artists—Yosan León, Reynier Pérez, Isaac Salas, Hennyer Eduardo Delgado Chacón, and Jorge Suárez—who exhibited their works. The gathering was held at Yodaly Cuban Bakery.

Rubén Soto, founder and president of the Cuban Heritage Society of San Antonio, has proudly played a pivotal role in promoting Cuban businesses and culture throughout the city.
